Liz Litvak is our November Athlete of the Month. She was chosen for all of her hard work at track and swimming practices and for her great results in the area 18 bocce tournament.
How did you do in the bocce tournament?
This is my first year doing bocce so I learned how to do it through practice. I earned gold in individual and our doubles came in third place because that was a harder competition. I didn’t realize that I would come in first, since this was my first year and I’ve never played it before.
What other Special Olympic sports do you play, and how long have you been doing each?
I’ve done both track and swimming for six years now.
What are your favorite events/sports?
Swimming is my favorite sport and the 50 free is my favorite event.
How did you first get involved in Special Olympics?
I had heard about it previously, and then my friends, Kirk and Caroline, got me involved.
What is your favorite Special Olympics memory?
My favorite memories are when I make it to state for swimming and my parents come down for the steak dinner and it’s really fun.
What is your favorite part about coming to practices?
My favorite parts are making new friends and learning different ways to compete better. For swimming this year I set a personal best at the 50 free with 26 seconds.
